That's why we offer a refill option for our lotion. The refill pouch is made from cellulose and is ASTM D6400 certified compostable.
Light and fast absorbing, our moisturizing lotion is filled with nourishing organic oils and botanicals. Giant kelp hydrates and helps restore the skin’s natural PH. Vitamin and antioxidant rich botanicals nourish from the outside in. Wild black spruce grounds and calms. Use all over.
If your municipality accepts compostable plastics, you can simply rinse the package and put it into your residential compost container. It will break down to carbon dioxide, water, inorganic compounds and biomass at the same rate as other organic materials in the compost pile, leaving no toxic residue. Pretty neat!
If your municipality does not accept compostable plastics, select the option “refill pouch with return envelope” above and we’ll include a postage-paid envelope (available in Canada only). You can return the empty, rinsed and dried pouch to us and we’ll compost it. Just pop the envelope into your neighbourhood mailbox.

***Because the pouch is compostable, we recommend filling your bottle within 1 week of receiving it. When you place your order, we fill the pouch and the clock starts ticking. The pouch will start to break down in 4-6 weeks depending on the environment it’s in. We recommend ordering your refill when your bottle is close to empty.
Refill instructions
To refill the lotion bottle, remove the pump, cut a small hole (about the width of a pencil) at the top corner of the refill pouch and squeeze the lotion into the bottle like you are icing a cake. Roll the pouch down as you squeeze to empty the pouch.
